Overview

WalkupHire ("we," "our," or "us") runs two things: a public website at walkuphire.com where anyone can browse local job listings on a map, and an SMS and email service that lets employers create and manage those listings by texting or emailing our AI assistant. This Privacy Policy covers both. The website section comes first because most people only ever use the website.

You do not need an account, an email address, or a résumé to use the website, and we do not ask for one.

Visiting the website

We keep records of how the website is used so we can tell whether it works and fix what doesn't. These records are not linked to you: there is no account, no cookie or other identifier stored in your browser by us, no login, and nothing that connects one visit to another visit or to any other website. We cannot tell that two visits came from the same person, and neither can anyone reading the data.

On every page, we count page views, and record the website or search engine that referred you, your country, and your device type, browser and operating system. This is done by Vercel Web Analytics, which our host provides and which does not use cookies.

On a job listing page, we also record:

• how long the page was visible on your screen, and how far down it you scrolled;
• which links you tapped — the apply link, the phone number, the email address, the address and directions, the share and copy-link buttons, the feedback box's Send button, and any other link off the page;
• for a link that leads to another website, the domain name of that website (for example "careers.example.com"), never the full address;
• what you send us from the feedback box at the end of a listing page — the options you tap, your message (up to 600 characters) and, only if you choose to give one, an email address for a reply. Nothing is sent until you press Send. That email address is the one thing on this website that can identify you; we keep it only to answer you, and you can ask us to delete it at support@walkuphire.com. Please do not include anything personal you would rather we did not keep.

On the map, we also record:

• which businesses you tapped, whether you scrolled through the list of business cards, whether you opened the search box, whether you used the "center on my location" button, and how many times you zoomed or panned;
• how long the map was visible on your screen, and whether you went on to open a job listing;
• the words you type into the search box, converted to lower case and shortened to 80 characters. We record these because a search that finds nothing tells us which kinds of work are missing from the map, which is the most useful thing we can learn. Please do not type personal information into the search box.

What we do not record from the website: we do not store your IP address with these records, we do not record the position of your map or any other location, and we do not track you across other websites or build a profile of you. Like every website, our servers see your IP address when your browser asks for a page; we use it only for a few seconds, in memory, to stop automated abuse of these counters, and it is not written down with the records above.

The map's "center on my location" button asks your browser for your location, and your browser will ask your permission first. That location is used to move the map on your screen and is never sent to us. Nothing else on the website asks where you are.

Apart from an email address you choose to give in a listing page's feedback box, these records contain nothing that identifies you, so there is nothing in them for us to look up, correct, or delete at your request. If you would rather not be counted at all, a browser or extension that blocks analytics requests will prevent it, and the website will work exactly the same.

If you are a business using the text or email service

Everything below applies only to businesses that contact us to post or manage a job listing. It does not apply to browsing the website.

When you use our SMS or email service, we collect:

• Phone Number: To send and receive text messages
• Business Name: To identify your account and job postings
• Email Address: For account notifications and support
• City/Location: To display job location information
• Job Posting Content: Information you provide when creating job listings (position, pay rate, hours, contact information, etc.)

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide our SMS job posting service
• Create, update, and manage your job listings
• Send you confirmations and notifications via SMS
• Respond to your support requests
• Improve our service and user experience
• Comply with legal obligations

SMS/Text Messaging

Message Frequency: Message frequency varies based on your usage. You will receive messages when you interact with our service (creating jobs, receiving confirmations, etc.).

Message and Data Rates: Standard message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier.

Opt-Out: You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by texting STOP to our number. You will receive a confirmation message that you have been unsubscribed. After opting out, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us unless you re-subscribe by texting START.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Job Seekers: Your job posting information (business name, position details, contact information you choose to include) is publicly displayed on our platform for job seekers to view
• Service Providers: We work with service providers who help us operate the service and who process data on our behalf under their own terms: our website host and its analytics (Vercel), our application host (Render), our database (Supabase), our text-message carrier (Twilio), email delivery (Google Workspace), the AI model that powers our assistant (Anthropic), and mapping and geocoding (Google Maps, OpenStreetMap and CARTO map tiles). Map tiles and fonts are requested by your browser from those providers as you use the map, which means they see the request the same way any website's image host would
• Legal Requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or court order

Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Data Retention

Business accounts and listings: we retain your account information and job posting history for as long as your account is active. If you opt out or ask us to delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where required by law to retain it longer.

Website usage records: the records described under "Visiting the website" are kept while we operate the service. They contain no identifier, so they cannot be traced back to a person or removed on request.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Opt out of SMS communications at any time

Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify active users of significant changes via SMS or email. Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
